The complex nature of cities and their continuing problems shows that intellectual studies and research on the city are much more important than before. Even though those studies are at a level that cannot be underestimated in terms of quality and quantity, our aim as Institute of Urban Studies is to deal with the city with its different dimensions as systematic integrity. Our main motivation is to raise awareness of existing problems and with that awareness, develop solutions in line with an interdisciplinary approach with innovative, creative, and effective tools.
Based on our motivation, we defined seven different work group programmes that will cover all urban processes. Work group programmes will be conducted under the direction of expert academics in their fields. In that direction, there will be activities that will be carried out which are written and visual publications, research, content production to open up current issues for discussion, to convey the experience of the field, to produce scientific and social information, to disseminate the produced information and to increase social awareness.
