Prof. Dr. Ela Babalık

Prof. Dr. Ela Babalık is a faculty member at METU City and Regional Planning Department. She graduated from the same department in 1994, completed the METU Urban Policy Planning and Local Administrations Master’s Program in 1996, and with the YÖK scholarship she won, she studied at the University College London (UCL) Department of Transportation Studies (Centre for Transport Studies) in England between 1996-2000. She has completed her doctorate. Since 2000, she has been teaching urban planning studio courses and urban transportation planning, transportation systems design, and transportation policy courses at METU as a faculty member. Prof. Dr. Ela Babalık’s research topics are on urban planning, urban transportation, sustainable mobility and transportation, smart cities and smart transportation, climate change and transportation sector, public transportation planning, and operation, and she has conducted national and international research projects on these subjects. In addition, she served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of European Schools of Planning (AESOP) between 2013-2019; She was the president of the Global Planning Education Associations Network (GPEAN) between 2017-2019.
